Sports facility at Quai des Armateurs
The Urban Development Company (SAU-MSI.brussels) is building a regional sports facility along the Vergote Basin, at the level of the canal's turning basin.
This new construction of approximately 6,400 m² will include a multi-sports hall, a gymnasium, a climbing hall and a cafeteria. It will be built on vacant land that belongs to the Port of Brussels.
As part of the Urban Renewal Contract No. 1 "Citroën – Vergote", the SAU-MSI acts as delegated project manager on behalf of the Region and works closely with the City of Brussels, which will manage the infrastructure once built.
A little history:
- In January 2021, the SAU-MSI published a European public procurement notice to appoint the multidisciplinary team that will be responsible for designing and monitoring the construction site of this regional sports facility.
- In September 2021, proposed by the SAU-MSI, 5 teams were selected for the design of the new sports facility in the Vergote basin, among the 58 applications received.
- In December 2023, the building application was submitted to URBAN.brussels.
