Fondation Kanal to organise the Citroën Cultural Centre’s first exhibition in May 2018
The Fondation Kanal(*) was created by the Brussels-Capital Region to oversee the successful completion of the Citroën Cultural Centre project by implementing the conversion of the Citroën garage on Place de l’Yser into a cultural centre of regional significance. The project includes the creation of a museum of modern and contemporary art and the arrival of the Fondation CIVA regional architecture centre.
The Fondation Kanal aims to promote and disseminate all forms of artistic creation (the visual arts, design, music, dance, fashion, literature, poetry, theatre, etc.) and all studies, research and activities promoting the understanding of contemporary art.
As part of the preliminary phase of the future cultural centre, which is currently the subject of an architecture competition, the Fondation Kanal plans to organise a year of cultural activities in partnership with the Centre Pompidou (a structural partner for the entire project). This cultural year will run from May 2018 to June 2019 in the garage on Place de l’Yser, before renovation and repurposing work starts.
